Deaf CSUNians Meeting Minutes – Friday, December 5th, 2014

Question of the day: What are you most excited about for Winter Break?

 

Reports:

 

President:

• We had a wonderful potluck dinner on Wednesday night!

• Please send me all your schedules for next semester so that I can figure out what time we will have DC meetings!

• I am working with Bob to set up a Budget Workshop in the beginning of February.

• I reserved two Leo Carrillo campground spots next to each other for two nights.

• Fits 16 people total

• $196 total, 45 each night for each spot

• Made an FB event and mass email

• When 16 people pay, I will reserve another spot for 8 more people, and so on.

• Help us market! J The Executive Board is collecting $$$

Vice President:

• No Report. Wish her luck on Facebook or text if you have her number for her Rugby tournament!

Secretary:

• No report and Good luck on your finals!

Treasurer:

• No Report.

Sergeant at Arms:

• No Report.

Spring Banquet:

• I went to the Odyssey to secure the final details and needed a secure deposit to book the place. Thank you for voting last minute! I will go today to the Odyssey to give the payment and contact. Tirzah created two designs for the tickets. (We will vote on them in new business. Once we have that, I will order 80 and start advertising and beginning selling at the beginning of next semester. We will be selling them for $50 early bird and increase it to $55 in the beginning of March. I also will have a new business to vote for which dessert to have. Thank you! (Votes will be either on Facebook or through email).

JASK:

• Chipotle Fundraiser was huge SUCCESS.

• Total Funds collected for JASK budget is $356.17 J

• Committee meeting this morning was to discuss winter fundraiser/make tentative schedule for official JASK Week.

• I wish to have a 10 minutes open discussion about a potential winter fundraiser and host an official vote.

• The purpose for JASK Week is to have awareness mostly but emphasize FUN.

Deaf CSUNians Ambassador Program:

• I moved the date from the 13th to February 27th! The contestants are fine with it!

• Will have a tour at Plaza Del Sol performance hall next week.

• Contestants are now working on their tasks (presentations, Vlogs)

  • 4 contestants are confirmed!

Fundraiser:

• The fundraiser (DIY Holiday Cards) was a success! We made $32+ so far and will host at DC and DSA Holiday party!!! (However, did not host it at DC and DSA Holiday party but satisfied with the amount that they earned).

Art:

• I have been thinking about having a film project one day. It will be the last day of January or the first of February. The film project is about how hearing people would feel if they are deaf.

  • I will discuss about it more in Facebook and through emailing.

Social Cultural:

• Thank you for coming to my Holiday Event!

• It was a last-minute event but SUCCESSFUL!

• I am glad that I chose to be involved with Deaf CSUNians It taught me a lot!

  • Looking forward to DC Retreat

Recreation:

• No Report :) 

Public Relations:

• Advertised the JASK fundraiser, attended with pictures to post soon.

• Was not able to publicize the DIY card or winter party event as much as I would have liked due to personal health issue.

• Will be continuing to post up descriptions for photos from previous events and now also new photos from the JASK fundraiser event.

Deaf CSUNians Lounge:

• No Report yet.

• I will work with Bob soon to extend the deadline for the lounge survey.

• During winter break, I will make myself a timetable to set goals and deadlines for each task I still have to do for the Lounge.

• When I come back from winter break, I will change the season board in the Lounge to match the winter season

 

 

 

Advisor: 

• His advice not to post vote for last minutes because it will eventually become a habit if it’s continue. Try your best to post as early as possible.

JASK:

• I, Alexandra Mutti move to have an open discussion about a skating rink fundraiser for the month of January.

  • Nhi seconded.

  • Expansion: 50% proceeds will be donated to JASK organization from fundraiser; money comes from being charged on entrance fee. Minimum of 25 people confirmed in order to have fundraiser happen. No set dates yet, goal month is January but depending on how discussion goes, is subject to change.

  • Informal vote on dates: January 23rd, February 6th.

• I, Alexandra Mutti move to host the fundraiser (skating rink) on January 24th, Saturday

  • Emmanuel seconded. Vote: Full house.

Art:

• I move to have an open discussion about the film project.

  • Braden seconded.

  • Expansion: experiment on hearing people to be less “hearing” for the day. Go-pro filming.
