Second Week DC Meeting, Friday, 19th, 2014

(Due to technical issue, this will be informal minutes)

Reports:

- Emmanuel (Treasurer)

• I, Emmanuel Felix, Executive Board Treasurer, move to an approval for our new Deaf CSUNians’ budget which is allocated to our committees for the 2014-2015 year.

* Julia seconded

o Purpose: The original budge was voted and passed by the former DC meeting at the end year of 2013-2014. Our original budget is not a reasonable according to my analyze and comparison record within the last 2 years from the DC’s Treasury binder records.

 

- Clarisia (Spring Banquet)

• Hello! I am your Spring Banquet chairperson Clarisia Duran. Currently I am searching for a committee, so if you’re interested or know someone who is interested in being involved with Spring Banquet, please let me know. I will host a discussion later on in regards to themes for Spring Banquet. Once we have a list of themes (appropriate themes of course). I will host a poll on Facebook to see which theme is most preferred. Once I collect those polls, I will bring it back here and host a vote. Based on the theme, I will then look and select a venue for banquet. Again, if you are interested in being on the committee please contact me. Thank you

 

- Matt (Recreational)

• I will have open discussion for the date of the events later on.

* Danielle (DC Lounge)

o I will be having my first committee meeting Friday morning at 11am. Also I am still in the process of working with Bob and Hua to get the Lounge cleared of all the bugs.

 

- Alexandra (JASK)

• No report but been brainstorming this week and will have full report for next week.

 

- Tirzah (Art)

• I move to open discussion for the first event: The Wall “Who Are You?” and the dates.

* Propose: The “Who Are You” Wall event is a social event where people can meet new people and get to know each other. “Who are you” describes what you do, what you love to do and what interesting thing about yourself is. It will be drawing, painting, and writing, depending on how they want to express themselves. Not a name, but it is the purpose to get people to understand that they are being themselves.

o I move to open discussion about designing a logo for Deaf CSUNians.

* Propose: She wants to create a new logo for Deaf CSUNians. Something fresh and new. She asked committees for their opinions and ideas for the logo.

 

- Nhi (Fundraiser)

•  No report.

 

- Jeffrey (Sergeant-at-Arms)

•  He passed out the contract forms.

* Explained the procedures in the contract and sign your name on the last page and give to him before next week meeting.

 

- Tuzdie (Public Relations)

• I will be setting up the private Facebook page for DC by the end of this weekend. I will be posting an event by the end of today that was sent to me yesterday on our media sites.

o I will be posting our first meeting picture with image description as well on all our media sites. o If any other events need to be posted please contact me at wilcox08@gmail.com

 

- Tyler (DCAP)

• He had a brief meeting with DC executive board this morning about DCAP and received feedbacks.

• He already found two people who are interested to be on my committees and still looking for more.

• If you’d like to participate in the DCAP contest or committee, please let me know and I’ll give you details.

 

- Braden (Social Cultural)

• As I discussed about Halloween event at previous meeting. I found that it will be discussed during October and you want to focus on welcome back event so I will need some help on that.

• Since I wonder if Halloween party can be hosted on Oct. 16th or other date, then what is the best date for welcome back because we already in 3rd week of this semester. If you have the best date to have a welcome back date then I’ll move that to business plan.

 

Open Discussion:

- Clarisia: I move to open discussion on Spring Banquet’s themes.

• Themes: Masquerade, Under the Stars, Alice in Wonderland, CSUN (colors theme)

 

- Matt: (Recreational):

• Date for ASL Night, first hike, sports night, and tournament participation

 

Announcement:

- Tyler:

• Deaf International Student Panel is on Wednesday, Sept. 24th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Where: MPR at NCOD. Free pizza! DHH CSUN students will be sharing their stories and experiences of living in different cultures and countries.

• Sign n’ Run on March 22nd, 2015 (tentative date but most likely will happen). Please let Tyler Pugeda knows if you’re interested in being on Sign n’ Run committee. Email at csunsignrun@gmail.com

 

- Jepe (DSA President & AS Senator)

• Introduced herself to DC and open to help if needed. She also work at NCOD front desk :)
