Deaf CSUNians Meeting Minutes, Friday October 10th 2014

Reports:

  • Elena (President)

    • Great job on the BBQ/Art Wall event for everyone who helped out and came! People enjoyed the food, Art Wall and socializing. Plus, we made a profit! Awesome work, everyone J

    • AST, DSA, and I have ahead and reserved Matador Bowl on Thursday, October 16th.  AST is working on a flyer. It cost $20 to reserve 2 lanes for 4 hours, from 9pm to 1am. This day happens to be College Night, which means that games cost $1.50 per person and shoe rental is $2.99. Everyone is welcome to come, eat, bowl and socialize.

    • Next DC Meeting will be postponed after the Dean’s List lunch. It will be at 1:30pm in the MPR on Friday, October 17th.

    • BBQ Fundraiser with the art board of “Who Are You”: $267.20

    • Reimbursed Tirzah for $94.56

    • Collected fines from Matt and Tuzdie: $3.50

    • Upgraded DC’s Budget excel spreadsheet

    • Cleaned and organized the DC office

    • Set my office hours

  • Jeffrey (Sergeant at Arms)

    • Last meeting, I did fee two people because they got the late reports.

    • Remind a person who still owes DC

  • Clarisia (Spring Banquet)

    • I’ve been looking at venues and soon after we vote on the theme we will go to some places and depending on the price, we will book it. I want to have a location set by the end of this month. Please if you know any venues let me know.

    • I will also have a new business to vote on the final theme of the Spring Banquet based on the two most voted on through the polls.

  • Alexandra (JASK)

    • Have basis of committee together. (PR: Tuzdie Wilcox, Co-chair: Kendra Hao, & General committee member: Ashley Null

    • I am in the process of selecting 2 more general committee members. The last 2 are hearing students whom are Deaf/Liberal studies majors at CSUN. I think inclusion is important with this specific committee since after all it is about Deaf awareness! J

    • Next Friday will be our first committee meeting.

      • We will be brainstorming ideas for our first fundraiser. Ideally I would like to have 3-4 total fundraiser; 2 in Spring (Subject to change)

  • Tyler (Deaf CSUNians Ambassador Program)

    • Still waiting to hear confirmation from VPAC (you have to reserve Plaza del Sol performance hall through VPAC, not USU). Emailed twice but no response. The potential date is Friday, February 13th

    • Planning to host DCAP Information Meeting after DC meeting and maybe another in the follow week.

      • The purpose of the meeting is to convince everyone to join DCAP competition. The location is DC lounge (not MPR because it’s already been reserved by someone)

    • Please join DCAP! We need more people in the competition to make this program a success. Please come to the info meeting after DC meeting.

  • Danielle (DC Lounge)

    • The survey has been finalized. Soon, Bob will send to the “Baseline” company to type it up and then he will do a mass email to all Deaf/Hard-of-hearing students registered through NCOD. Keep a look out for that email soon.

    • Friday morning will have cleaning day with my committee as well as decorate the boards.

  • Matt (Recreation)

    • Hiking Event: October 25th at 9:00am

    • Currently getting a committee for ASL Night

    • Voices of Event: November 4th at 9-11:00pm. Waiting for confirmation from the people in Outdoor Adventures

    • Currently planning for Staff vs. Students event

  • Braden (Social Cultural)

    • I brought Halloween string lights for myself and will use them for the Event.

    • I will also bring three lamps.

    • Will need more volunteers and ideas about games.

    • Still in the process to get PPM approval paper.

    • BBQ plan is dropped – a new plan is to get platter/catering tray – Costco?

    • NCOD Halloween Map

  • Tuzdie (Public Relation)

    • Helped continued PR for our fundraiser took pictures and posted on Facebook. Will be posting on IG on Twitter for results soon.

    • Workings with other chairperson for PR help such as the Halloween event and Jask week.

    • Will be posting up flyers this week for Halloween event.

    • Created Facebook event page for the Hiking trip

  • Nhi (Fundraiser)

    • Will have a new business

  • Tirzah (Art)

    • Our “Who Are You” Wall Event, which was shared with our DC BBQ event, was successful and awesome!

    • Our DC Logo is still in process. It will take longer than expected to be. It is not ready to be shown

    • I have been thinking about a spirit song lately

    • (Treasurer) I move to reimburse $6.67 from General Funds for the Bowling Event reservation on Thursday, October 16th.

      • Tyler seconded. Vote: Full house. Neutral: 0. Opposed: 0

      • Expand: The total cost to reserve lanes for that day was $20. AST, DSA and DC are all paying 1/3 of that price, which is $6.67

    • (Treasurer) I move to reimburse $39.25 from Fundraiser budget for extra supplies for the BBQ last Tuesday.

      • Nhi seconded. Vote: Full house. Neutral: 0. Opposed: 0.

      • Expand: The BBQ ran out of beef, cheese, tomatoes, buns and water so I made a trip to Vons and bought more supplies

    • (Vice President) I move to set the DC retreat on Sunday, November 2nd.

      • Matt seconded. Vote: 10 Neutral: 2 Opposed: 0

      • Expand: November 2nd was the voted date for retreat on the Facebook group

  • Clarisia (Spring Banquet)

    • I, Clarisia Duran, move to host a vote on the theme for Spring Banquet; the options are as follows, Under the Starts and Mad Hatter.

      • Mad Hatter: Vote: 0

      • Under the Stars: Vote: 6

      • Mad Hatter under the Stars: 8

    • I, Clarisia Duran, move to have “Mad Hatter under the Stars “as the official theme for Spring Banquet.

    • I, Braden Villa, move to have open discussion about Halloween Night specifically game ideas.

      • Expand: I want to have more game ideas to make this Halloween event more fun and make sure that everyone are having fun as well.

    • I, Nhi, move to reimburse $150 for the food from the BBQ Event.

  • Announcement

    • ΑΣΘ Organization

      • We have an upcoming fundraiser event next Monday, October 13th at Red Robin in the Northridge Fashion Center Mall. The event is from 11:00am to 10:00pm. I would love to have this announced at the DC meeting so the CSUNians members can have the opportunity to come to the event in support of our sorority.
